The Starry Night is not in the Vincent Van Gogh Museum because they do not own the painting. The painting was purchased from a private Dutch collection around 1941 by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MoMA) in New York City. The Starry Night is still on exhibit at the MoMA as of 2021.
