Unfortunately A4 is just under 12 inches by just over 8 inches so a 12x8 is too long on the 8 inch side. Most A4 frames come with a mount though, this sits on top of the photo and its opening is less than A4. If you measure the mount opening then that will give you an idea of what size print would fit best.
