With a photo selected, click the Edit icon in the column on the right. In the Effects panel, drag the Clarity slider to the right to increase midtone contrast and sharpness, bringing out detail in midtone areas. Drag the Clarity slider to the left to decrease midtone contrast and sharpness, creating a softening effect.
