How do I know if my Nikon lens is original?

Some lenses have “NikonUSA” stickers on the barrels. Heck, even my old D3s had that sticker in the battery chamber lol. As stated by others in here, a “US” prefix is labeled next to the serial number itself is one way to verify the unit's origin.
