Canon has divided its DSLR lineup into 4 categories. The cameras with 4 digit code (for example EOS 1200D) are for beginners, the three digits cameras (as the EOS 250D) are for advanced amateurs, the two digit cameras (like my old 20D) are for semi-professionals, the one digit cameras (7D, 1D) are for professionals.
