Hand Planes (to flatten board): Most woodworkers use antique wood planes, like Stanley hand planes, but there are some other good vintage and new hand planes on the market for hand planing boards. You won't need all of these hand planes, just a jack plane, a smoothing plane, a jointer plane, and maybe a block plane.
