Mary Ellen Mark (born March 20, 1940, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.—died May 25, 2015, New York City, New York) was an American photojournalist whose compelling empathetic images, mostly in black and white, document the lives of marginalized people in the United States and other countries.
