Dynamic area AF is the same that it was in DSLR. Subject tracking does not work with dynamic area. Wide area analyzes the scene within the chosen box(L, S, C1, or C2). With subject detection OFF it behaves more or less like group focus in DSLR by prioritizing the closest object under the box.
