Zenit is probably the most popular camera brand from Russia, and they mostly made SLRs. In fact, the first Zenit camera in 1952 (eponymously named Zenit) was simply a converted Zorki. The designers removed the rangefinder housing and replaced it with a ground-glass screen and prism.
