A good place to start is to use the "Sunny 16 Rule". On a sunny day set the camera to f16 and set the shutter speed to 1/ISO. So if you are shooting at ISO 200 the setting would be F16 ISO 200 and shutter 1/200th. Things can vary from place to place but this will get you in the neighborhood.
