Depending on the size you need, your fabric requirements also change of course and you usually need more fabric for woven vs. knit projects. My general rule of thumb for woven fabric is 1.5-2 meters for tops, 3 for dresses and jackets, 2.5 for trousers and other pants, 3.5 to 4 for coats.
